CHARTER RATES COULD CONTINUE TO BE SOFT NEXT WEEK - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - The BDI was almost at same levels closing slightly lower by 0.64 pct at 928 points.
The Cape index was up by 6.73 pct closing at 1507 points. The Panamax and Supramax index were down by 1.43 pct and 7.83 pct closing at 1036 points and 949 points respectively. The handy size index was also down by 3.18 pct closing at 547 points.
The spot fixture rates for Supramax in SE Asia saw some softening of charter rates. Vessels delivery SE Asia for trip to India were reported fixed around US$ 15000 per day and delivery South China was reported around US$ 11500-12000 per day.
Next week the charter rates could continue to be soft due to this week long holidays and Monday is closed in Europe .
The average charter rates was at Cape/US$ 6205 per day , Panamax/US$ 8277 per day , Supramax/US$ 9928 per day and Handy size/US$ 8305 per day.
The futures for three years (2012-2015) was at around Cape/US$ 16000 per day, Panamax/US$ 11000 per day, Supramax/US$ 12000 per day , Handy size/US$ 9500 per day.
The supramax index in the feast (S8 route) was down 13.11 pct and closed at US$ 11209 per day (last week US$ 12900 per day) and S7 route was up by 9.47 pct and closed at US$ 9382 per day (last week US$ 10364 per day) . Both routes likely to be soft this week , the long holidays could be one of the reason.
The congestion in EC Australia decreased to 118 vessels this week(last week 116 ). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/17, DBCT/17, Gladstone/25, Abbot Point/4, New Castle/46, Port Kembla/9 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at 46 vessels (last week 62).
The Brent crude oil prices was almost at same levels closing at 123.29 per barrel(last week 122.99 per barrel) and bunkers prices closed at US$ 735.50 pmt (last week US$ 728.00 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 5th April 2012.
