THE FREIGHT RATES FOR INDONESIA TO INDIA REMAINED FIRM - VISTAAR SINGAPORE
 COALspot.com - The market continued to be firm and all segments were up except for Cape Index which was down by 2.46 pct closing at 1,466 points.
The BDI continued upward trend and was up by 6.06 pct and closed at 874 points. The panama and Supramax also up by almost 10 pct closing at 971 points and 951 points respectively. The handy size index was up by 8.10 pct closing at 507 points.
The spot fixture rates for Supramax in SE Asia continued to be firm for trips to India and China.
The freight rates for Indonesia to India remained firm and continued the upward trend. Vessels delivery S E Asia for trip to India were reported fixed around US$ 15,000 per day and delivery South China was reported around US$ 11,500-12,000 per day. It seems the freight rates for Indonesia to India will continue to remain firm for next 2/3 weeks.
The Short period rates for Supramax delivery Feast/SE Asia was around US$ 12,000 per day and for Panamax was around US$ 11,000 per day.
The iron ore imports into China is likely to be slow with stocks in port still around 100 mill tons. However the coal imports into China and India is strong and keeping the market buoyant.
The average charter rates was at Cape / US$ 5,392 per day , Panamax / US$ 7,772 per day , Supramax / US$ 9,946 per day and Handy size / US$ 7,691 per day.
The futures for three years (2012-2015) was at around Cape / US$ 16,500 per day, Panamax / US$ 12,000 per day, Supramax / US$ 12,000 per day , Handy size / US$ 9,000 per day.
The supramax index in the feast (S6 route) was at same levels as last week and closed at US$ 8,180 per day (last week US$ 8,180 per day) and S7 route was up by 14.93 pct and closed at US$ 9,768 per day (last week US$ 8,309 per day) . S6 and S7 route likely to be firm next week.
The congestion in EC Australia decreased to 85 vessels this week(last week 79). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/5, DBCT/11, Gladstone/18, Abbot Point/2, New Castle/33, Port Kembla/8 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at 38 vessels (last week 31).
The Brent crude oil prices was almost at same levels closing at $ 126.04 per barrel (last week $126.02 per barrel) and bunkers prices closed at US$ 735.00 pmt (last week US$ 729.00 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 16th March 2012.
