INDIA IMPORTS 66.41 PERCENT MORE COAL FROM INDONESIA LAST MONTH - SOURCES
 COALspot.com: Indonesia, the world largest coal exporter, shipped 33.476* mln mt of coal in November, which is slightly higher than its October export.
Indonesia's coal exports to China have also slightly increased in November. China as usual becomes the largest importer of Indonesian coal has imported 13.23* million tons of coal in November. Chinese's utilities have imported more Indonesian coal than Indian Utilities imported since April 2011. According to media reports, around 8 million tons of coal still laying at Indian ports waiting for the consumers to evacuate from port.
Instead of 8 million tons at India ports to be delivered to customers, India was the second largest importer of Indonesian coal in November. Indonesia has exported 6.59* million MT, which is around 66.41 percent higher than October exports to India.
59.23* percent of total Indonesian coal exports in November have shipped to China and India. Coal demand from India and China drastically increased for Indo coal since 2010. One of the Indonesian largest coal producer Berau coal is also indicated that, India will be the big market for Berau’s low calorific coal in 2012.
Coal spot-prices dropped worldwide last week according to index publishers. NEWCIndex which has published by GlobalCoal, which is also benchmark price for Asian market closed lower at US$110.28 per ton for the week of December 16 or down 1.1% compare to the previous week.
Meantime, RBIndex, which also published by GlobalCoal benchmark for South Asia and West European markets dropped to US$101.95 or 1.46 percent from US$ 103.47 from the previous week.
However Indonesian coal prices are not falling drastically, and small-scale and medium-scale suppliers are still offering prices which buyers are feeling the prices are in high side or not with the current market trend. Meantime, Big scale coal producers have already sold the cargo at least until the end of 1Q next year and offering no cargo on the spot except one or two supplier is willing to discuss spot shipments, said a trader from India.
Indonesian coal price reference which is declaring by government of Indonesia has also dropped 3.41 in December compared to November 2011. Indonesian ministry of energy resources has set the December 2011 Coal Reference Price at US$ 112.67 per ton. As international coal indices are falling, the January 2012, Indonesian Coal Reference Price (HBA) is also expecting to fall further.
Dozens of Indian companies have invested in coal mines in Indonesia to secure fuel supplies to their respective plants on the long-term basis, and around five to ten companies have already in operation stage.
Indonesian government is also strictly monitoring the contracted price between sellers and buyers of Indonesian coal to avoid price transferring. Indonesian suppliers were required by law to obtain government's approval prior to sign any term contract with their buyers. Suppliers are prohibited to sell coal below HBA index and urged them to renegotiate the existing contracts with their respective buyer’s to accommodate HBA regulation.
