THE FREIGHT MARKETS EXPECTED TO BE FIRM NEXT WEEK - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - The market continued to move up with all sectors gaining except for handy size.
The BDI was up by 3.26 pct and closed at 1895 points. The cape index was up only by 0.27 pct and closed at 3235 points. The panama and Supramax was up by about 4 pct closing at 1831 points and 1381 points respectively. The handy size index was down by 2.07 pct and closed at 661 points.
The markets expected to be firm/steady next week.
Supramax delivery N. China for trips via Indonesia were reported around US$ 9,000 per day. Short Period charter rates for Panamax reported at around US$ 12,500-13,000 per day and Supramax around US$ 12,000 per day.
The average charter rates was at Cape/US$ 28,340 per day , Panamax/US$ 14,635 per day , Supramax/US$ 14,438 per day and Handy size/US$ 9,388 per day.
The Supramax index in the feast (S6 route) was up by 9.85 pct and closed at US$ 8,405 per day (last week US$ 8,323 per day). The EC India/China (S7 route) was up by 12.83 pct and closed at US$ 7,415 per day (last week US$ 7,321 per day). The S6 and S7 route likely to remain steady/firm next week.
The futures for three years (2011-2013) was at around Cape/US$ 15,500 per day, Panamax/US$ 13,000 per day, Supramax/US$ 13,000 per day , Handy size/US$ 10,500 per day.
The congestion in EC Australia decreased to 87 vessels this week (last week 80 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/2, DBCT/13, Gladstone/16, Abbot Point/1, New Castle/47, Port Kembla/8 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at 23 vessels (last week 47 vessels).
The Brent crude oil prices was down by 5.67 pct and closed at US$ 107.61 per barrel (last week US$ 114.08 per barrel). Bunker prices softened and closed at US$ 683.50 pmt (last week US$ 709.50 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 18th Nov 2011.
