INDONESIA'S COAL EXPORTS REACH US$ 3.44 BILLION SO FAR THIS YEAR - TRADINGCHARTS
.jpg) Indonesia`s coal exports in the January-April 2009 period increased by 21.31 per cent to US$3.44 billion compared to US$2.83 billion in the same period last year.
"The increase in the export value was thanks to the price of the black gold that increased in the last four months, after declining by the end of last year," Head of the Central Bureau of Statistics Rusman Heriawan said in Jakarta Monday.
He said that while in terms of value of the coal mostly coming from the mines in Kalimantan had increased, but in volume dropped in the Jan-Apr 2009 period by 53.5 million metric tons, or a drop of 22 per cent.
The thousands of metric tons of coal were produced from East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, and Central Kalimantan.
"The economy of the world had started improving, so that a number of export farm products had started to increase," he said.
The other export commodities with good prospects are CPO the export of which in the January-April 2009 period reached 5.57 million tons, up by 4.3 per cent compared to last year`s 5.34 million tons.
CPO exports up to April 2009 reached US$2.87 billion, down 44.6 per cent compared to the US$5.19 billion in the same period last year.
Cumulatively, Indonesia`s exports in the January-April period reached US$31.49 billion, down 29.51 per cent compared to the same period last year, while non-oil exports reached US$26.90 billion, down 22.68 per cent.
Indonesia`s non-oil/gas exports to China were the largest, valued at US$830.3 million, followed by the United States with US$768.4 million and Japan at US$687.4 million. Exports to the European Union (27 countries) reached US$869.3 million.
