THE CHARTER RATES FOR INDONESIA TO INDIA WAS FIRM - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - The freight market moved up sharply with the cape Index up by 11 pct pushing the BDI by almost 6 pct and closing at 1,920 points. However the Panamax was down by 6 pct closing at 1,641 points. The Supramax and handy size index moved up slightly by about 2 pct and closing at 1,479 points and 687 points respectively.
“The short period rates remained firm and Supramax vessels reported fixed around $ 15,000 per day”, said Capt. Reddy, MD of Vistaar Shipping Singapore.
The charter rates for Indonesia to India was firm with charter rates for vessels delivery South China around $ 15,000 per day, whereas vessel with delivery SE Asia were fixed around $ 18,000 per day. The Panamax short period rates were reported around $ 13,000 per day.
The India to Far east market iron ore movement remained weak. The coal imports to India out of Indonesia likely to pick up coming weeks. However with the uncertainty in the global financial markets and commodity prices it will be interesting to see whether the shipping market will be affected.
The average charter rates was at Cape/$ 28,888 per day , Panamax/$ 13,142 per day , Supramax/$ 15,460 per day and Handy size/$ 10,194 per day.
The Supramax index in the feast (S6 route) was up by 3.12 pct and closed at $ 13,363 per day (last week $ 12,958 per day). The EC India/China (S7 route) was up by 0.95 pct and closed at $ 11,470 per day (last week $ 11,362 per day). The S6 and S7 routes likely to be firm up next week.
The futures for three years (2011-2013) was at around Cape/$ 16,500 per day, Panamax/$ 14,000 per day, Supramax/$ 14,000 per day , Handy size/$ 10,500 per day.
The congestion in EC Australia increased to 78 vessels this week (last week 60 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/3, DBCT/18, Gladstone/21, Abbot Point/Nil, New Castle/31, Port Kembla/5 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at 52 vessels (last week 28 vessels).
Waiting at Indian ports were normal about 2/3 days except for Vizag, Kandla and Paradip where waiting was around 8-10 days.
The Brent crude oil prices dropped by almost $ 10 per barrel and closed at $ 103.96 per barrel (last week $ 112.12 per barrel). Bunker prices also softened and closed $ 644.00 pmt (last week $ 674.50 pmt) for IFO 380 CST ex Singapore on 23rd Sept 2011.
