RBCT-INDIA ROUNDS FIXED AT AROUND US$ 12K - FEARNBULK

Stable but very positional markets across all segments in the Atlantic: the gap between owners and charterers rate ideas is building up as owners expectations are rising in response to sustained positive indexes lately, as reported by Fearnleys its weekly report.
The Continent and Black Sea tonnage is scarce on prompt/August dates delivery which is putting pressure on charterers to pay up. The USG is quiet. The question is, will all the business available absorb all the tonnage which is insisting on remaining in the Atlantic? The result could be that owners wishing to do so have to reduce their expectations drastically. The Pacificmarket got little firm with more cargoes seen in market. Vessels open in north China getting close to usd 13k for Indo-India or ndo-Thai rounds. Indian iron ore market remained quiet due to monsoons. Enough vessels available for RBCT and rates are around usd 12k for RBCT-India rounds. Red Sea fertilizers to India are fixed around mid-20s. Short period rates are around14k.
Panamax
This week the Panamax market took a turn for the positive with more activity in both hemispheres. In the Atlantic the main driver is the coal cargoes but also some grain cargoes are being circulated. It was concluded a healthy 16k for 2 legs in the Atlantic while the single legs are being fixed at around usd 15k. In the Pacific the market took a real turn with a significant number of Indonesian coal cargoes and lack of prompt tonnage to cover same. Vessels are fixing in region 11-12k for same. Period market somewhat regained activity this week which could mean players are being more confident for the fall season and a typical short period ows are asking around usd 13-13.5k. For one year they are asking around 12k.
Capesize
Finally what everyone has been waiting for is happening! West Australia/China is presently around usd 10 pmt, whilst Tubarao/Qingdao is in the high usd 25s. Short period rates in the low to high 15,000s, whilst one year has been done at usd high 14,000. This is good news for the owners as well as for the market in general. However, the explanations are mixed. For sure improved activity in the east as well as expensive bunkers and low freight for Tubarao/Qingdao the last weeks has resulted in few ballasters, hence tight supply of ships in the Atlantic. The optimism is back, but for how long?
