SUPRAMAX CHARTER RATES SHARPLY UP - CAPT.REDDY
 COALspot.com - The BDI ended positive with gains in Cape and Panamax index. The BDI was up by 1.50 pct and the cape and panamax index was up by almost 2.80 pct.
Supramax index was almost at same levels up by 0.40 pct whereas handy size was down by 2.73 pct.
“The Supramax charter rates were sharply up for trip via Indonesia to India” said Capt. Reddy, director of Vistaar shipping Singapore. Vistaar shipping is an experienced ship operator based in Singapore having offices in India.
“ships were reported fixed at almost per day 14000 per day delivery south china” he further said.
According to Vistaar, period charter rates on Supramax was up and vessels were reported fixed around 13-13500 per day for short period. Short period rates on Panamax were reported fixed around per day 11000 per day.
The coal exports out of Indonesia has been slow due to holy fasting month and upcoming Ramadan holidays in Indonesia.
The average charter rates was at Cape/per day 10642 per day , Panamax/per day 12149 per day , Supramax/per day 13119 per day and Handy size/per day 9455 per day.
The Supramax index in the feast (S6 route) was up by 3.09 pct and closed at per day 10714 per day (last week per day 10393 per day). The EC India/China (S7 route) was also up by 9.10 pct and closed at per day 10192 per day (last week per day 9344 per day).
The S6 and S7 routes likely to be firm next week.
The futures for three years (2011-2013) was at around Cape/per day 15000 per day, Panamax/per day 13500 per day, Supramax/per day 13500 per day , Handy size/per day 10000 per day.
The congestion in EC Australia increased to 79 vessels this week (last week 57 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/11, DBCT/19, Gladstone/9, Abbot Point/Nil, New Castle/35, Port Kembla/5 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting increased to
42 vessels (last week 29 vessels).
Waiting at Indian ports were normal about 2/3 days except for Vizag and Kandla where waiting was around 7/8 days.
The Brent crude oil prices slightly down by 0.77 pct and closed at per day108.46 per barrel (last week per day 109.30 per barrel). Bunker prices remained at same levels as last week and closed at per day 639.00 pmt (last week per day 639.50 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 12th August 2011.
