A SUPRAMAX VESSEL WAS REPORTED FIXED AT $ 12K - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - The BDI was slightly up by about 4 points closed at 1268 points which was supported by cape index which was up 3.14 pct and closed at 1804 points. Panamax and Supramax index was down by 2.18 pct and 0.71 pct and closed at 1478 points and 1250 points respectively. The handy size index also was down by 2.37 pct and closed at 660 points.
One Supramax vessel was reported fixed at $ 12000 per day, which has been the lowest reported during recent times. The coal exports out of Indonesia is likely to be down in August due to Ramadan holidays approaching. Also the commodity markets have been sluggish due to global financial crisis over last 2 weeks. The average charter rates was at Cape/$ 10117 per day , Panamax/$ 11798 per day , Supramax/$ 13075 per day and Handy size/$ 9711 per day.
The Supramax index in the far east (S6 route) was up by 1.39 pct and closed at $ 10393 per day (last week $ 10250 per day). The EC India/China (S7 route) was also up by 0.54 pct and closed at $ 9344 per day (last week $ 9293 per day).The S6 and S7 routes likely to be steady next week. The futures for three years (2011-2013) was at around Cape/$ 15000 per day, Panamax/$ 13500 per day, Supramax/$ 13500 per day , Handy size/$ 10000 per day.
The congestion in EC Australia reduced to 57 vessels this week (last week 80 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/7, DBCT/12, Gladstone/10, Abbot Point/Nil, New Castle/22, Port Kembla/5 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting increased to 29 vessels (last week 30 vessels).
Waiting at Indian ports were normal about 2/3 days except for Vizag and Kandla where waiting was around 7/8 days.
The Brent crude oil prices slightly down by 6.46 pct and closed at $ 109.30 per barrel (last week $ 116.86 per barrel). Bunker prices remained at same levels as last week and closed at $ 639.50 pmt (last week $ 676.50 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 29th July 2011.
