CAPES ARE TRADING BELOW $ 9500 PER DAY - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - The BDI further softened by 4.46 pct and closed at 1264 points which touched below 1300 points after long time. The Cape and Panamax index also softened and closed at 1,749 points (down by 5.00 pct) and 1511 points(down by 1.56 points) respectively. The Supramax index was down slightly by 1 pct and handy size was up by 3 pct .
The Supramax rates far east / SE Asia seemed to have stabilized in the region for last two weeks and seems will maintain for next week also. Short period rates for Supramax delivery feast was around $ 11,000-12,000 per day and for Panamax was around $ 11,000 per day. No long period charters have been reported.
The average charter rates was at Cape/$ 9,408 per day , Panamax/$ 12,061 per day , Supramax/$ 13,161 per day and Handy size/$ 9,944 per day.
The Supramax index in the feast (S6 route) was up by 5.82 pct and closed at $ 10,250 per day (last week $ 9,686 per day). The EC India/China (S7 route) was also up by 5.15 pct and closed at $ 9,293 per day (last week $ 8,838 per day). The S6 and S7 routes likely to be steady next week.
The futures for three years (2011-2013) was at around Cape/$ 15,000 per day, Panamax/$ 13,500 per day, Supramax/$ 13,500 per day , Handy size/$ 10,000 per day.
The congestion in EC Australia reduced to 80 vessels this week (last week 69 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/9, DBCT/17, Gladstone/10, Abbot Point/Nil, New Castle/38, Port Kembla/6 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting increased to 30 vessels (last week 41 vessels).
Waiting at Indian ports were normal about 2/3 days except for Vizag and Kandla where waiting was around 7/8 days.
The Brent crude oil prices slightly down by 1.42 pct and closed at $ 116.86 per barrel (last week $ 118.55 per barrel). Bunker prices remained at same levels as last week and closed at $ 676.50 pmt (last week $ 676.00 pmt) for IFO 380 CST ex Singapore on 29th July 2011.
