BUKIT ASAM RECORDED RP1.3 TRILLION PROFIT IN MAY - TEMPO INTERACTIVE
 Tempo Interactive reported that, PT PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) made a net profit of Rp 1.3 trillion (approx. US$ 152,779,410) at the end of May. As such, the company believes that the net income target of Rp 3 trillion (approx. US$ 352,567,869) through 2011 can be achieved.
Sukrisno, the Bukit Asam CEO, said that this year the company has set the coal production and purchase target at 17.57 million tons, a 23 percent growth compared to last year’s 13.02 million tons.
“The profit came from the Bukit Asam production and from its subsidiary businesses,” he said yesterday, after the shareholders’ meeting.
This year’s production target will be larger than the sales due to the company’s forecast of an increase in exports.
Achmad Sudarto, the Corporate Secretary, added that 1.2 million exports reached 30 percent with Japan as the biggest destination. This year the company will work to increase the sales to Japan by 1.8 million tons.
In order to reach this target, the company will optimize the production of PT International Prima Coal, its subsidiary company, to 0.9 million tons. In addition, the company will boost its trading volume to 1.2 million tons.
To operate more efficiently, Bukit Asam has constructed two units of thermal power plants (PLTU) in Tanjung Enim with a capacity of 3 x 10 megawatts and 2 x 8 megawatts at Tarahan port.
“This year, the Tanjung Enim PLTU will be ready for operation,” he said.
The shareholders meeting has decided to distribute a dividend of Rp 523.12 (approx. US$ 0.0614784 ) per share (1 USD = 8,509.00 IDR).
