KNOWLEDGE INFRASTRUCTURE TO BAG 160,000 MT COAL SUPPLY ORDER FROM TNPL
 COALspot.com - Delhi based Knowledge infrastructure Systems Pvt. Ltd offered lowest price of US$ 97.10 per metric ton for calorific value of 6000 GAD and 15 percent total moisture coal for TNPL against its latest tender. According to E-Tender conducted by TNPL at 12 noon IST today, the lowest price was at US$ 100.40 per metric ton, our sources said.
However, the Manual bid's lowest price of US$ 97.10 of knowledge would emerge as lowest and emerged as the contract winner. This price includes US$ 3.5 - 4 logistics cost making the net CIF price around US$ 93.5 – 94 per MT. The freight rate from Indonesian to Tuticorin may work out at US$ 15.00 – 16.00 per Mt, said a ship operator from Singapore.
According to the tender issued on 1st March 2011, the quality of coal should be Gross Calorific Value (adb) 6000 Kcal/Kg basis and will be rejected if GCV is below 5600 kcal/kg. The Inherent Moisture (adb) of around 10 pct, Total Moisture (arb) 15 pct basis and above 23 pct will be rejected. The Ash content (adb) 8 pct max , Sulphur (ADB) 0.8 pct max and Volatile Matter (adb) 25 to 45 pct and above 45 pct will be rejected.
TNPL tender terms say, the winner will be selected based on the lowest bid either from E-tender or sealed manual tender price. The manual bids were opened around 3 pm IST today, and Knowledge infrastructure’s price was the lowest among the seven participants.
Most probably, TNPL, will award the 160,000 MT of coal supply order to Knowledge infrastructure.
TNPL's latest tender price is 19.58 percent or US$ 15.90 higher than its last purchased price of US$ 81.20 per MT. TNPL brought 240,000 tons of the fuel from Indonesia last November 2010 at US$ 81.20 PMT an Indian trader said.
The reference price (HPB) set by Indonesia for coal grade of 5,667 GAR kcal/kg heating value was at US$ 103.50 per a ton FOB based on March 2011 HBA. HBA index of March 2011 is US$ 26.92 or 28.18 percent higher than November 2010 HBA.
TNPL is a regular importer of Indonesian coal, for its paper factory in Karur district, India.
Adani Enterprise, Gupta coal, MSTC, Rudhra Energy, Star Coal, Knowledge Infrastructure and Coastal Energy have submitted bids to supply 160,000 plus minus 5 percent metric tons of non-coking coal with Gross Calorific Value (ADB) 6000 Kcal/Kg.
