RBCT SHIPPED 28.67 PERCENT LESS COAL IN JANUARY
 COALspot.com - Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) is the single largest export coal terminal in the world, shipped 4,389,925 MT of coal in January 2011 compared with 6,154,452 MT of coal in December 2010. RBCT's December exports were at 6.154 Mt of coal, and its Janaury shipment fall 28.67 percent compare with its December 2010 shipment, reported in a report posted on its website.
RBCT has handled 45 oceans going vessels to load 4.38 million tons of coal in Janaury 2011 which also 29.68 percent less compared with total handled vessels in December 2010.
RBCT has handled 64 vessels in Deember, RBCT said on its website. RBCT Terminal has received 4,728,846 MT of coal in January and 1,763,991mt of coal at its stockpile as of 31 January 2011.
RBCT's total coal exports have reached 63,427,448 MT in 2010.

Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) is the single largest export coal terminal in the world. Opened in 1976 with an original capacity of 12 million tons per annum, it has grown into an advanced 24-hour operation with a design capacity of 91 million tons per annum.
Positioned at one of the world’s deep sea ports, RBCT is able to handle large ships and subsequent large volumes. As such, it has gained a reputation for operating efficiently and reliably. The 276 hectare site currently boasts a quay 2, 2 kilometres long with six berths and four ship loaders, with stockyard capacity of 8,2 million tons. RBCT shares a strong co-operative relationship with South Africa’s national utility, Transnet, which provides the railway services linking the coal mines to the port, and the shipping coordination of more than 700 ships per annum.
