INDONESIAN HBA HAS INCREASED TO $ 95.51 PER TON FOR NOVEMBER LOADING
 COALspot.com: The Directorate General of Mineral, Coal and Geothermal of Indonesia has been publishing a monthly coal price reference (HBA) since February 2010 to be used by coal producers for all future spot and term coal sales contracts.
Coal price reference (HBA), the price has calculated based on a monthly average of the Indonesia Coal price Index (ICI-1), Platts-1, Newcastle Export Index and the globalCOAL Index from the previous month. Assessment basis of coal price reference was calculated considering coal with GCV (GAR) 6,322 kcal/kg, Total Moisture (arb) 8.00%, Total Sulphur 0.8%, Ash Content 15.00% and delivery free on Board (FOB) Vessel supply between 1 - 30 November 2010.
The declared coal price reference for November 2010 is US$ 95.51 per Ton FOB vessel up by US$ 2.83 or 4.13 percent compared to October 2010 Coal price reference. October 2010 coal price reference was at US$ 92.68 per ton.
Government also declaring price reference for eight brands of Indonesia coal which are most commonly traded in the market. The price marker is used to calculate other coal types with a quality similar to the coal price markers.
For spot sales of below one year, it will use coal price reference from the previous month and term contracts, the average of coal price reference for the last three months is used to set coal prices for a one-year contract for the following year.
For sales in barge, the reference price is reduced by barging and transshipment costs from barge to vessel.
The coal price reference, which has been established to fulfill the requirement of mining law 04/2009 and latest ministerial decree 17/2010 and also aims to increase government revenue from royalties from coal producers.
According to coal producers, due to tight availability of coal for various reasons and recent new inquires from Korea, Taiwan and India, the actual physical coal prices of Indonesia are showing positive move and heading to north.
