THE BDI WAS JUST INCREASED BY 8 POINTS AND CLOSED AT 2452 POINTS LAST FRIDAY - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com: The BDI was almost at same levels and just increased by 8 points and closed at 2452 points , however the cape index was up by almost 10 pct and closed at 3419 points. The Panamax was under pressure and was down by 10 pct and closed at 2412 points . Supramax and handy size index was bit soft and was down by 1.92 pct and 2.90 pct respectively.
The market is expected to be bit soft next week also. The waiting at coal loading ports in Australia increased , where as the iron ore vessels waiting at Australian ports reduced. Also the iron ore shipments out of India was under pressure and the market was soft and few ships opening WC India were seen ballasting towards South Africa.
The average charter hire was at Cape/US$ 32,626 per day, Panamax/US$ 19,283, Supramax/US$ 19,272 per day and Handy size/US$ 15,165 per day.
The Supramax index in the Fareast (S6 route) was soft and was almost at same levels as last week and closed at US$ 18,087 per day (last week US$ 18,027 per day). The ECI/China (S7) route further softened by US$ 621 per day (down by 3.62 pct) and closed at US$ 16508 per day .
The S6 and S7 routes seems will be under pressure next week too.
The futures for three years (2010-2012) was almost at same levels of last week and was around Cape/US$ 27,500 per day, Panamax/US$ 20,500 per day, Supramax/US$ 18,500 per day, Handy size/US$ 14,000 per day.
The congestion in EC Australian ports increased to 105 vessels this week (last week 93 vessels ). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/4, DBCT/40, Gladstone/9, Abbot Point/3, New Castle/49, Port Kembla/Nil vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was slightly down to 19 vessels (last week 26 vessels).
The waiting at Indian ports for coal vessels was quite normal around 3/4 days, except that the congestion at Haldia continued to be high with almost 20 days berthing delays for iron ore vessels.
The Brent crude prices was firm and was up by almost US$ 5 per barrel and closed at US$ 83.78 (last week US$ 78.87 per barrel ). The bunkers prices was also firmed up and was up by almost US$ 19 pmt and price (380 cst ) ex Singapore and was at US$ 459.00 pmt (last week US$ 440 pmt) on 1st Oct 2010.
