INDONESIA EXPORTED 5.93 MLN TON OF COAL TO CHINA AND 3.52 MLN TONS TO INDIA IN JULY
 COALspot.com: Indonesia shipped 3.52 million tones of thermal coal to India in July, fell 25.39 percent compared to June's exports of 4.71 million tones, sources said. China's coal imports from Indonesia rose to 5.93 million tons in July from 5.47 tons in June. Indonesia has exported 8.46 percent more coal in July to China. India accounted for around 15 percent of Indonesia's total export of coal in July and China accounted for around 25 percent.
Around 70 - 75 percents of Indonesian total coal exports in July 2010, goes to Asian countries such as China, South Korea, India, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia.
According to media reports, India has imported more coal from South Africa in July compare to June's imports.
"South Africa shipped 2.1 million tones of thermal coal to India in July, almost double June's 1.2 million tones" Reuters Africa reported. Reuters further said that, "India imports 35 percent of South Africa's total July exports of 5.9 million tones and has taken an average of 34 percent for 2010 so far”.
Indonesian coal market is steady to firm this week in spite of falling of international coal indices. Small to Medium scale coal miners were offering coal with calorific value of 5100 - 5200 kcal/kg on GAR basis between $ 58 - 60 per ton FOB vessel and 6300 kcal/kg calorific value coal on ADB basis more than $ 70 per MT or above. However, large scale miners were offering much higher than those prices due to tight supply as most major Indonesian coal producers have sold out or have very little coal to offer in the spot. However the inquiries from India and China for coal are still flooding in Indonesian market.
However Indian utilities were locked the deals at very attractive competitive prices for Indonesian coal, industry sources says, by referring the recent TNPL's tender, in which TNPL received the price of US$ 79.53 per ton CIF Tuticorin or Ennore for coal with calorific Value 6000 kcal/kg GAD and 15% (arb) Total moisture.
Indonesian Coal Mining Association is forecasting the coal prices will increase coming months. India's WBPDCL launch's spot coal tender yesterday to import 1.2 million tons for 12 month delivery.
Asian coal demands soared significantly last several months.
