Others I’m mainly involved in investigative research activities associated to coal and coke along with this I am also responsible for the smooth functioning of the R&D laboratory. I have analyzed and performed more than 1000 lab scale carbonization trials with different coal blend formulations. Experience of coordination in the evaluation and characterization of the many Australian and Canadian coals. I have developed several statistical models for formulating the coal blend and also developed prediction model for predicting the commercial coke strength using excel and MATLAB. AREAS OF EXPERTISE • Designing optimum coal blends through statistical model. • Conducting the carbonization trials in the carbonization units on lab scale • Testing of coking coals for finding out its rheological, chemical and physical properties. • Metallurgical coke strength determination of both cold (Micum test) strength and hot strength (CSR/CRI test) • Investigative research projects for quality improvement and cost cutting. • Problem solving using regression analysis, Pareto, Fish bone and root cause analysis • Coal consumption, usage planning and costing • Coal characterization & blend optimization • Hands on experience with laboratory equipments like digital weighing balance, muffle furnace, PID controlled pilot ovens, Gieseler Plasometer, Audibert Arnu Dilatometer, Coke reactivity equipment (CSR/CRI) • Human resource planning and material management
