HANDY: RBCT ROUND WAS AROUND USD 9K + 300 BB - FEARNRESEARCH

THE Atlantic market remained flat. The USG-Feast was at USD 19k and Black Sea-Feast was at USD 12k. The Pacific market remained quiet with not many cargoes seen around. The Supras are fixed at USD 10k-11k bss Singapore for Indo-India/China round. WCI-China is also easing off and rates getting weaker around USD 7-8k whereas ECI-China was quiet and rates were 6k respectively but not seen any cargoes. RBCT round was around USD 9k + 300 BB. Short period activity was limited and rate for large eco Supra was around USD 9k.
Panamax
From a quiet last week to a nervous Atlantic and further sliding Pacific, without any significant injection of fresh requirements and growing list of open positions. Atlantic rounds done at 9.000 on short Baltic rounds, but Owners gradually lowering their targets for regular T/A. In the Eastern Hemispehre rates are being hammered as rounds are being concluded at ard USD 4/5k. Seems we are on our way to last years summer dull with rates well below OPEX. The period market is almost non excisting at the moment.
Capesize
Staggering along at levels far too low to cover operating costs, not to mention serving capital. Despite a flurry of both iron ore and coal fixing ex Australia, freight rates are largely unchanged w-o-w with the conference trade Dampier/Qingdao standing at USD 7.30 pmt and average daily TC returns up 3% to come in at USD 5300. Shutdown of another 2 nuclear plants in S.Korea has yet to boost coal activity sufficiently to push rates up, but this market´s main headache (besides the constant tonnage oversupply) is presently the extremely low spot volumes on fronthaul- and transatlantic trades. Period activity is close to zero as peper levels give only limited support - save for the noticeable conclusion of 177kdwt/blt 2007 delivering Xingang prompt at USD 10500/day for 4-7 mos, for which owners are said to be guaranteeing exceptionally attractive slow steaming performance.
